Functional Dry Needling

Woman Receiving Acupuncture

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is an adjunctive therapy that addresses pain-generating tissues in the muscles, commonly referred to as trigger points.  Trigger points typically develop as a result of overuse, muscular imbalances, or injury.  A thin, monofilament acupuncture needle is used to treat these trigger points resulting in decreased pain and improved mobility which are further enhanced when followed by a tailored exercise program.

What does a session of functional dry needling consist of?

A dry needling session is 60 minutes long.  When you book a session specifically for functional dry needling, you get to skip the initial evaluation because a tailored assessment is included in the visit!  Your therapist will bring you through movement and strength testing based on your area of concern which will guide the treatment.  Afterwards, your therapist will complete a re-assessment and provide individualized exercises and recommendations to promote continued symptom relief.
